Prairie Chicks Scrapbook Challenge #15- Tammy's

Challenge #15, yay! What is the challenge this time? Well since washi tape has been storming through the scrapbook world we thought doing a challenge on different ways to use washi tape on a layout and a card would be a great challenge.

What is washi tape you ask?
Washi tape is a high quality masking tape made of rice paper. Japanese in origin, it is a tape that is very pretty and useful at the same time. It has a low tack so you can easily reposition it and the type of tape it is makes it easy to tear, stick and even stamp or write on it. With just a simple piece of washi tape you can add an element of interest to your page with very little fuss.

Here is how Tammy used washi tape on her layout and card,

Lay down several strips of tape between strips of paper, overlapping journaling cards and pictures.

Prairie Chicks Scrapbook Challenge #14- Amanda's

Challenge #14 is a technique challenge. We can only use plain cardstock for our layouts (no pattern paper) but we must make the paper patterned using stamps, stencils or whatever technique we wish. We can use any embellishments that we want.
You saw a part of this layout yesterday. Here is the whole layout.

Supplies
Crafter's Workshop stencil
Tattered Angels chalkboard mist-monolith
KaiserCraft rhinestones
Basic Grey buttons
Riley Blake lace ribbon
VersaColor Ink- lagoon Blue
MME Stamps- The Sweetest Thing

White cardstock was sprayed with mist over the stencil. Hexagon shapes were cut out of shades of blue and yellow cardstock, stamped, inked and then adhered to the page.

Hexagon Love

Have you noticed how popular hexagons are in the quilting and scrapbooking world?  We sure have and we absolutely LOVE hexagons!  We have used hexagons in some of our scrapbooking page layouts and some of us are even working on some english paper piecing projects using hexagons.  Tammy loves hand quilting and has been singing its praises for years!  Now she has two new converts, Amanda and Lilly!  Yes they have given english paper piecing a try and they love it too!  Hand stitching is so relaxing....to some of us!
So here is a little hexagon inspiration.

Aren't they just beautiful organized by color?!?!

Grandmother's Flower Garden

Randomly placed hexagons in this quilt.  It is still a work in progress.  Not sure how big it will be yet, I'll just keep sewing more on until I get bored and want to move onto the next project.

So what hexagon project are you working on?

New Fabric!!

Soooo much fabric, so little time!  I (Barb) am definitely feeling the pressure to get some projects done.  With spring just around the corner, the guilt-free stay inside and quilt days are almost gone.  Are you caught up on your UFOs (UnFinished Objects)?

Sock monkeys are making a comeback!  At least with quilting fabric they are.  We just got a second line of adorable sock monkey fabric in, love it!  SOCKY!

Prairie Chicks Scrapbook Challenge #14- Jen's

Challenge #14 is a technique challenge. We can only use plain cardstock for our layouts (no pattern paper) but we must make the paper patterned using stamps, stencils or whatever technique we wish. We can use any embellishments that we want.

With Valentine's Day right around the corner I thought I would share a Valentine's layout for the challenge but not with people but rather a pet. Ushi isn't a little kitten anymore but he's still just as cute. I love it when we get kittens with so much personality :)

supplies
white cardstock
red cardstock-hearts
crafter workshop stencils
prima masks
black ink- Stampin Up basic black
red ink-barn door-Tim Holtz
stamps from stampin up
washi tape
red buttons
peteloo white flowers

The honeycomb and floral stencils were placed down on seperate pieces of white cardstock and using a blending tool(Ranger) I rubbed ink all over the paper, moving the stencil as I went. I then stamped another piece of white cardstock with black ink to give another texture to the layout.
